Foley proudly sponsored NanoBiotech 2007, held this year at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies. In addition, Stephen Maebius, partner and chair of the Nanotechnology Industry Team, served on the advisory committee for the conference. The conference highlighted cutting-edge R&D and explore commercialization opportunities of nanotechnology, biotechnology and related science and engineering fields.
Leon Radomsky, senior counsel and member of the Nanotechnology Industry Team, presented, “Nanotechnology Inventions and University Researchers – Strategies and Challenges.” The presentation focused on the challenges of patenting nanotechnology inventions made by university researchers and on strategies for overcoming these challenges. The presentation addressed issues relating to commercialization of intellectual property from a university perspective and the role of the university inventor in the patent process.
