2018 Update to Help Clients Do Business on the Internet in the Midst of Cyber Turmoil
TexasBarCLE Webcast
Gardere internet, eCommerce and technology team chair Peter S. Vogel, with team member and senior attorney Edward H. Block, will present “2018 Update to Help Clients Do Business on the Internet in the Midst of Cyber Turmoil” via a live TexasBarCLE webcast Feb. 20.
All clients conduct business on the internet, and as a result, all lawyers must understand how to advise clients regarding e-commerce and bitcoin. The risks of e-commerce are more complicated given the ongoing cyber intrusions and threats. In order to sell goods and services on the internet, each website requires the appropriate legal terms including terms of service (ToS), click agreements and privacy policies.
Furthermore, many lawyers and clients rely on cloud computing services, making it essential for lawyers to understand legal and cyber risks associated with contracts and privacy laws. The program will feature a discussion about cyber insurance and reporting cyber intrusions, which are critical to all clients in 2018 and beyond. Internet jurisdiction continues to be complicated and will be part of this webcast, as well as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation’s (GDPR) privacy laws.
