Forty-Second Session of the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications
At the Forty-Second Session of the SCT, Partner Rick McKenna presented on a variety of topics including, IPR protections for GUIs, user interface (“UI”), user experience (“UX”), and weaknesses in the protection scheme. Rick attended as a representative of the International Trademark Association (INTA) so he also highlighted INTA’s expanding advocacy and educational efforts related to designs.
The session brought together INTA members, Government Representatives, WIPO member states and delegates attending this important WIPO Standing Committee meeting.
Founded in 1998, the SCT serves as a forum to discuss issues, facilitate coordination, and provide guidance on the development of international law on trademarks, industrial designs and geographical indications, including the coordination of national laws and procedures.
