Foley partner and co-chair of the Sports & Entertainment Group, Kevin Schulz, moderated a panel entitled “Betting on Sports Betting – Current Industry Topics Facing Sports entities and Athletes” at the Sports Lawyers Association Annual Conference 2023 on May 12 in Los Angeles. Jill Kelley, Vice President, Legal Affairs, New York Jets, and Alex Smith, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, were among the panelists. The panel discussed the benefits, risks, and legal challenges regarding sports betting from all relevant perspectives, including professional sports leagues, teams, athletes, gambling operators, and society at large, as well as what the future of sports betting may hold in the U.S. and around the world.
