Partner James Chapman and Senior Counsel Linda Ji review some of the obstacles to completing acquisitions in China, including inconsistent laws and regulations as well as key legal issues pertaining to deal structuring and labor contract law. While the authors acknowledge that acquisitions in China are difficult to complete, they also note that M&A activity is likely to accelerate due to the Chinese government’s effort to create a friendlier investment environment and economic growth within the country.
