Foley Partner Sharon Barner, chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, was featured in the September 10, 2007 issue of Crain’s Chicago Business in “Info Junkie: Asia Watcher” on how she gets her world view. Barner will be opening Foley’s Shanghai office laterthis year after the application is approved.
Barner was quoted as saying she enjoys NPR’s Supreme Court coverage, reads Asia Weekly and the Wall Street Journal, watches MSNBC’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” for his strong opinions, as well as gets local community news from Oak Leaves and loves flipping through catalogs. She added that she is inspired by Barack Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream” and Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s aerial photographs, which makes her realize how miniscule what you’re doing is.
