Foley Partner Jack Lord was quoted in an article that appeared in ABC News on May 17, 2011 titled “Florida: Behavior Outside Office May Stop Unemployment Checks.” Lord discusses a pending law in Florida that would deny benefits to anyone found to have engaged in misconduct, both on-the-job and outside the workplace. He states that the new legislation will make it easier for employers to disqualify somebody from receiving unemployment, adding that the law is a part of the Florida legislature’s pro-business stance during the recession.
