The Dallas Morning News enlisted the expertise of Intellectual Property Partner Kay Lyn Schwartz to discuss the steps companies should take to protect their brands following the approval of .xxx domains by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, a private, non-profit organization responsible for managing and coordinating the Domain Name System.
In regard to buying triple-X domain names through domain registrars, Ms. Schwartz said, "Every company should consider it, especially if the existence of a triple-X site using their trademark or brand would harm them. For the headaches it can avoid in the future, it's very inexpensive. "
