Gardere Participates in 2013 Bike Rides Benefiting the National MS Society: Lone Star Chapter
Teams from the Dallas and Houston offices of Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP were among the nearly 16,000 cyclists who participated in the 2013 BP MS 150 and the Bike MS: Sam's Club Round Up Ride benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society: Lone Star Chapter.
Cyclists rode a combined 327 miles to raise funds to support multiple sclerosis research, programs and services provided by the National MS Society. Each team is comprised of Gardere attorneys, staff, family members, clients and friends.
The 29th Annual BP MS 150 was held April 20-21, with riders making the two-day, 180-mile journey from Houston to Austin. This is the 13th year Team Gardere has participated, raising almost $1.5 million to support the National MS Society.
"Team Gardere is excited to have participated in the MS 150 again," says Team Gardere Captain Peter Scaff. "This unique event is inspirational and personally challenging to everyone involved. Most importantly, Team Gardere has continued to show its fundraising prowess by raising almost $150,000 so far this year."
The Bike MS: Sam's Club Round Up Ride, now in its 26th year, was held May 4-5, beginning in Frisco and ending at Texas Motor Speedway. This is the ninth year that the Gardere Gearheads have participated in the ride, and, to date, the team has raised over $843,000.
"Amazing and heroic do not begin to describe the efforts of the riders, especially the Gardere Gearheads in riding in the cold and wind," says Gardere Gearheads Captain Keith V. Novick. "I am proud of each of these folks for undertaking the challenge to make a difference. They improved themselves physically and mentally with their training efforts, and they have made our community better with their fundraising."
