Foley Reinforces Support for Advanced Manufacturers With Obama Administration's Announcement of New Manufacturing Hubs in Chicago and Detroit
February 25, 2014
Given today’s announcement by President Barack Obama that Chicago and Detroit have been selected as hubs for two new manufacturing institutes, Foley has reinforced its historic ongoing support for the manufacturing industry as businesses embrace technological advances in their operations and organizations.
The Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute in Chicago, and the Lightweight and Modern Metals Manufacturing Innovation (LM3I) Institute in Detroit, are part of the Obama Administration’s broader plans to boost manufacturing as the industry continues to evolve due to advances in technology and the movement of jobs and operations back to the United States.
“The launch of two additional manufacturing institutes underscores the widespread commitment from government, business and academia to promoting U.S. manufacturing,” said Foley Chairman and CEO Jay Rothman. “As a firm with a deep history counseling manufacturers in a variety of industries, it has been exciting to witness developments like this that continue to drive the next generation of manufacturing forward and to be able to provide our clients with the legal and business insights necessary to navigate this new environment.”
With offices in Chicago and Detroit, Foley is actively working with clients on issues related to reshoring, global supply chain management and other challenges facing the industry as it enters a new era of manufacturing. Foley has been a trusted advisor to U.S. manufacturers for nearly 175 years. In June 2013, the firm launched the legal industry’s first-ever Legal Innovation HubSM for NextGen Manufacturers, a firm-wide network that counsels clients on the transformational issues associated with next-generation manufacturing.
