Law360 spoke with Gardere Partner John P. Melko, chair of the Firm's Financial Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group, about things attorneys should watch for as oil prices continue to plunge such as distressed asset sales and even bankruptcies.
"A year ago, you could have been relatively well-capitalized and borrowed the full amount you were able to borrow on your reserves," Mr. Melko said. "That same company today would be thought of as woefully undercapitalized, just because the bottom has dropped out of the pricing of oil."
