David Cabrales Discusses THP Lawsuits on SiriusXM At the Races with Steve Byk

Partner David G. Cabrales spoke about the Texas Horsemen’s Partnership lawsuit against the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts on SiriusXM’s At the Races with Steve Byk. THP is questioning the constitutionality of the Legislative Budget Board’s right to withhold funding from the Texas Racing Commission, which could potentially bring an end to horse and greyhound racing in the state.

“There are a lot of rural people around the state who are looking to this industry as a way of life and as a means to support themselves and their families,” said Mr. Cabrales. “THP felt that this action by a very small minority of the legislature needs to be tested in court before we all just go quietly into the night and allow the industry to be shuttered because a very few don’t like the way historical racing has been introduced to the state.”
