Partners Gardner Davis and Michael Kirwan participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the Jacksonville Business Journal, “Table of Experts: Mergers & Acquisitions,” on June 3, 2016. The panel discussed the favorable climate for M&A, along with the risks in finding and completing deals that can help companies expand, maximize efficiencies and increase profits. Kirwan was the moderator and led the discussion exploring issues that come up in today’s M&A transactions including, lending practices, types of buyers, due diligence and transactional leadership. Davis shared comments on steps to take before going down the M&A path in soliciting bids and said, “It’s important for a potential seller to get a financial advisor’s advice early on, because so often people don’t know what they’re getting into, and they just sort of wake up one day about to sign a letter of intent, and that’s just the wrong way to go about it.”
