Oran, who focuses his practice on the energy industry, has represented a number of oilfield services and exploration and production companies, and works with private equity firms, portfolio companies and boards of directors on litigation matters.

Oran told the publication that he wanted to find a firm that had strong Texas roots, and that had young professionals in the energy and private equity space that he could build a practice with and would be around for decades to come.

"I also wanted a firm that had enough experience in the private equity industry that I would be able to attract high-caliber clients, but with flexibility on rates and billing structures," Oran said.
