Foley’s commitment to pro bono was highlighted on CBS 58’s Sunday Morning Spotlight as it showcased Foley’s work in Milwaukee with the national Street Law program. The Street Law program educates high school students from low income families and diverse backgrounds about the law and the legal profession. The CBS 58 segment featured two Milwaukee-area teens with interest in becoming lawyers who are currently interning at the firm. Both participated in the Street Law program at the Milwaukee office.
The street law program culminated in a mock trial in the Milwaukee office, with the teens playing the parts of the parties and their lawyers, while Foley lawyers served as jurors and the judge.
Senior Counsel Nick Welle, who runs the program for Foley, said the effort is an attempt to “expose a lot of students coming from diverse backgrounds, mostly from Milwaukee high schools, and get them excited and jazzed about becoming lawyers.”
