Partner Ann Marie Uetz was quoted in the NPR article, “FEMA Hadn’t Ordered Ventilators, Manufacturers Forged Ahead Anyway,” about how manufacturers, including General Motors, are manufacturing needed ventilators to help patients sickened by the COVID-19 virus even without the government placing orders for the medical equipment.
Uetz, who is heading Foley’s coronavirus task force, said that whatever has happened in talks with the government to secure contracts for ventilators has not caused delays in manufacturing the medical equipment. She is working with auto suppliers who are contributing to the manufacturing of the equipment.
“The carmakers as well as the suppliers have been very focused on this and working feverishly to get that production moving,” she said. “This is moving forward. GM is moving it forward.”
