Daljit Doogal Talks Firm Strategy and Collaboration as he Moves into CEO Role
Foley & Lardner LLP Chairman and CEO Daljit Doogal, who moved into the role on May 1, shared how he prepared for his new responsibilities and how he is focused on collaboration and the firm’s strategy in the Texas Lawyer article, “Strategic Plan Top of Mind for New Foley Chairman and CEO.”
Doogal says, “You’ve got to build the law firm for the long term,” and has been on the road, visiting a number of offices to meet with attorneys and staff. “We’ve missed over the last couple of years, with COVID, just having the personal interaction,” he said.
Doogal’s goals for this year include “focusing on the strategic plan, which calls for excellent client service, talent acquisition, a focus on innovation, and continued emphasis on key industry sectors [health care and life sciences, energy, manufacturing and innovative technology].” He said the goal is “for lawyers to work more in partnership with clients, to not simply be lawyers but also business advisers,” and that “planning careers for lawyers and staff [is] the best retention strategy.”
