Mark Neuberger Discusses Employer Concerns on New Florida Immigration Law
Foley & Lardner LLP of counsel Mark Neuberger is quoted in the SHRM article, “Employers Wary of New Florida Law Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration,” discussing the potential impact for employers of Florida’s new immigration law set to take effect July 1.
Neuberger, who has held webinars to educate clients about the new law’s impact on their business, said, “It’s a concern for all employers.”
He explained that employers are looking closely at three provisions of the law: the requirement for employers with more than 25 employers to use the E-Verify system to ensure employee eligibility to work in the United States, the invalidation of driver’s licenses issued by other states to individuals who do not have legal authorization to work in the country, and the risk of being charged with human trafficking if an employer helps a worker enters the United States unlawfully.
“The law is not clear on a lot of points,” Neuberger added.
