Foley & Lardner LLP partner Donald Schroeder is quoted in the Law360 article, “$55M Activision Deal A ‘Warning Shot’ For Video Game Sector,” commenting on a recent gender discrimination settlement and
offering insight on increased activity from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
“I think this is a sign of things to come,” Schroeder explained. “I don’t think this is going to end here.”
Schroeder noted that the commission is bumping up its staffing and caseload of late, and he said the enforcement activity in the employment sphere generally has been on the rise, citing heightened activity from the EEOC, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the National Labor Relations Board.
“Given how aggressive the EEOC and other federal agencies have been in the last 18 months to two years, the likelihood of there being a confrontation with state-run agencies on jurisdiction is fairly high,” Schroeder added.
