Partner Monica Chmielewski was quoted in an article in Managed Healthcare Executive, “Michigan’s Medicaid Program Plans to Save Millions By Eliminating PBMs,” about the Michigan Department of HHS’ (MDHHS) plan to stop using pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to negotiate prescription drug claims.
Chmielewski said the state essentially plans to take over the role that Medicaid Health Plans currently play in filling prescriptions. By doing so, she said, the state believes it can save approximately $40 million. “The state also believes that this will help standardize the benefit statewide under one delivery system,” she said.
