Jacob Stotser works in Foley’s Intellectual Property practice area and is a member of the firm’s Electronics group. Leveraging his interdisciplinary background in hardware and software design, Jacob assists clients seeking intellectual property protection for their high-tech, electronics, software, and emerging Internet patent portfolios.

Jacob received his law degree from Duke University. While at law school, he served as a Staff Editor of the Duke Law & Technology Review and represented start-up businesses as a student attorney for the Duke Start-Up Ventures Clinic.

Jacob is an engineer by trade and studied Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at Auburn University. While attending college, he received a research fellowship grant and spent two years performing research centered on adaptive biomechanics. Jacob served as the resident software engineer at his research lab, where he developed Graphical User Interfaces and data analytics tools that were frequently used in real-life laboratory trials. Jacob also has experience in technical areas ranging from robotics to communication systems and is a registered Patent Agent.
