Partner Aaron Tantleff was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article, “Compliance and Regulatory Heavy Lifting Ahead for Privacy Shield,” on March 10, 2016. The article discussed the data-transfer agreement between the United States and the European Union that establishes avenues for EU citizens to monitor their data and use by U.S. companies. Tantleff was quoted saying, “Certainly privacy shield provides individuals with a significant amount of new rights. That could be abused.” He continued to explain how EU data protection authorities (DPAs) will have an increased role, “The local DPAs have a lot of autonomy now. It empowers a DPA to say ‘I feel differently.'”
