Partner Greg Bruch will participate in the Internal Investigations 2007: Legal, Ethical & Strategic Issues conference hosted by the Practising Law Institute (PLI) on Ethical Issues on June 19, 2007, in Chicago.

This conference will focus on the thorny ethical issues that arise in internal investigations and will offer a two-hour ethics session. Further, the faculty will consider the perspectives of government prosecutors and regulators, in-house counsel, forensic experts and auditors and will offer practical advice on how to counsel your clients or your company facing an internal investigation.

Bruch’s session titled, “Ethical Issues” will take place at 2:30 p.m. Some of the topics Bruch and his panel will address include:

  • How independent are "independent" investigations?
  • Disclosure of reports of investigations: benefits and costs
  • Protection and waiver of the attorney-client privilege
  • Representing and interviewing employees
  • Handling whistleblowers
  • Prosecutions based on interviews by internal investigations
  • Advancement of employees' legal fees
