With companies facing rising enforcement around the world, managing risk is a priority for global businesses. So what are the top trends you should be following to help ensure your company’s compliance?

Please join Foley as we welcome our panel of three of today’s leading legal authorities in the area of white-collar crime, enforcement and compliance in France, India, and Germany. They will provide you with an inside look at current hot topics, including:

  • France’s new Sapin II anti-bribery law, the impact of anticorruption NGOs, and how to work with foreign authorities to build important, cooperative relations in France
  • What key trends and considerations drive law enforcement in India, with a focus on the Agusta Westland and Louis Berger case, and the international Porsche case, along with practical guidance on effective compliance in India
  • The development of corporate liability and compliance standards in the aftermath of the Siemens scandal in Germany, as well as the international cooperation of authorities/defense in cross-border cases

Speakers

Stéphane de Navacelle has worked in the field of white-collar crime/corporate crime in New York, London, and Paris (at Engel & McCarney, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP). With over 10 years’ experience in French and U.S. white-collar crime, he has participated in several landmark cases involving the FCPA, embargo restrictions (OFAC), investigations by multilateral development banks (World Bank), market abuse/insider trading, fraud, benchmark manipulation (LIBOR/Euribor), as well as criminal and internal investigations in Europe, North America, and Africa.

Sherbir Panag is a founding partner of the law offices of Panag & Babu, and manages the firm's New Delhi office. Highly recommended by Chambers & Partners as a “leading lawyer for white-collar crime in the Asia Pacific” and by Legal 500 for both “white-collar crime” and “dispute resolution,” he consults companies and individuals on a variety of criminal compliance, white-collar crime, and dispute resolution matters. Over the course of his career, Sherbir has handled diverse mandates involving financial fraud, corruption, asset recovery, breach of trust, cross-border disputes, and debarment.

Dr. Karl Sidhu is a partner at Roxin LLP and a director of the Roxin Alliance. He is listed in Who’s Who (Business Crimes) and serves as a board member of the German Defence Lawyer Association. Karl represents companies and individuals in white collar crime matters, including investigation and compliance projects. Karl has represented companies in many transnational cases and transactions in the field of white collar crime.

David Simon is a litigation partner who devotes much of his practice to helping corporate clients avoid and manage crises that potentially give rise to government enforcement actions. He provides compliance advice, conducts internal investigations, defends companies against enforcement actions, and represents companies in litigation.
