Foley Partner Harold Wegner was quoted in an article that appeared in Managing Intellectual Property on July 20, 2010 titled “USPTO funding plans under scrutiny.” Wegner discusses a request from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for additional funding in order to hire more examiners and increase efficiency. He states that working out of the USPTO’s backlog requires creative patent work-sharing and deferred examination plans rather than additional examiners.
