Kevin T. Lewman is an estate specialist with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is responsible for the drafting of all estate planning documents, preparing California and Federal Estate Tax Returns, and handling all probate and trust administration matters, including probate litigation.
Mr. Lewman has more than 23 years of experience in trusts and estates. His estate planning experience includes the drafting of revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, family limited partnerships, health care directives, durable powers of attorney and living wills, and also prepares all documents regarding the funding of trusts, including real estate deeds and property tax forms.
In the area of trust and estates settlement, Mr. Lewman is responsible for the preparation and filing of Estate Tax Returns, including Federal, California and Ancillary returns, defending returns in IRS audits, the preparation of trust and probate accountings, the allocation of assets into sub-trusts, and the distribution of assets to beneficiaries, including interfacing with various charitable organizations. He also has extensive experience in handling probate and conservatorship matters and interfacing with the Superior Court, Tax Court and Court of Appeals.
In addition, Mr. Lewman has experience in the area of corporations law, handling both for-profit and nonprofit corporations, and is experienced in employee benefits and tax and fiduciary litigation.
Education
Mr. Lewman earned his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law (J.D., 1985). He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas (B.A., 1981).
