Two Foley attorneys will be speaking at this year’s American Conference Institute (ACI) Advanced Forum on Biotech Patents, being held at the Stanford Park Hotel in Menlo Park, CA on April 18-19. Harold Wegner, partner and member of Foley’s Chemical & Pharmaceutical Practice, will be participating in a panel entitled, “Roundtable Wrap-up- Reviewing the Year in Patents with an Eye Toward the Future.” Other panelists include Stephen Albainy-Jenei, member of Frost Brown Todd LLC; and Carl Battle, Senior Vice President and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel of Elan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The panel will identify, analyze, and debate the changes that have taken hold in the patent industry over the past year.
In addition, Antoinette Konski, partner and member of Foley’s Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Practice, will be speaking on “Tackling Gene Sequences in Patents.” The presentation will address topics such as investigating the different ways in which DNA sequences are claimed in patents, the patentability requirements for gene patents, and overcoming utility rejections in gene patents.
ACI has developed the 8th Advanced Forum on Biotech Patents to provide attendees with the most up-to-date and complete information on how to incorporate the current legal developments effectively into a biotech patent practice.
