Foley Partner Andy Serwin will be speaking on “E-mail Marketing in Canada and the U.S.” at this year’s International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Privacy Academy. The conference will be held on September 29th – October 1st in Baltimore, Maryland. Below are additional details on what will be covered during the panel:
While e-mail can be a highly effective method of advertising, the line between “legitimate” e-mail marketing and “spam” is not always clear. Failing to know the difference can have costly consequences. Get an update on the current legal landscape with respect to e-mail marketing from both the U.S. and Canadian perspectives. Examine recent developments under the CAN-SPAM Act and the proposed Canadian anti-spam legislation—Bill C-28, the Fighting Internet and Wireless Spam Act—which will apply to U.S. firms that advertise by e-mail to Canadians.
