‘Foley Bound’ Program Featured for Connecting Associates with Firm Colleagues

Foley Bound, a program launched in April 2022 by Foley & Lardner LLP to help integrate associates in the 2020 and 2021 classes, is featured in The American Lawyer article, “After Period of Remote Work, Firms Find Ways to Bring Young Associates Into the Fold,” as an example of how firms are helping young associates to build relationships with their colleagues. The program encourages Foley associates who joined the firm during the pandemic to visit another office to meet people in person.

Chief Talent Officer Jen Patton said associates typically take a two-day, two-night trip where they schedule meetings with attorneys they have not had an opportunity to meet yet. She noted that “nearly 30 percent of eligible associates have either booked or taken their Foley Bound trip” and the program is “very well received.”

Participant Amanda Hibbler, a litigation associate, said, “My visit allowed me to expand my network within the firm, and I feel very comfortable reaching out to these individuals if our practice areas ever overlap in the future. I look forward to working with everyone I met and reconnecting at future firm events.”

Another participant and litigation associate, Elizabeth Nevle, said it was “incredibly helpful” that “the timing of my trip coincided with a motion deadline” and “it was a fantastic opportunity to work closely with [a partner] to finish a dispositive motion while in the office with her.”
