Conway Quoted on Self-Conferral Exceptions

Foley Partner Michael Conway was quoted in an article that appeared in The National Law Journal on October 6, 2009 titled “Lawyer Says Lawyer Defamed Him in Press Release Over Defamation Suit.” Conway discusses an Appellate Court of Illinois decision that restricts Illinois attorneys from speaking to the press about their own cases. He remarks that the appellate court’s “self-conferral” exception should be overturned, adding that attorneys are usually in the best position to summarize their own court filings or statements.
