GRS Wins Wisconsin State Bar Association’s Legal Innovator Award
On November 4, 2015, The Wisconsin State Bar Association announced that David Simon and John Turlais would be among this year’s recipients of its Legal Innovator Award. Now in its second year, the award was established to identify “risk takers, visionaries in the legal profession who found creative ways to solve client or community problems, drive internal operating efficiencies, or transform office culture to ensure it thrives tomorrow,” according to Tom Watson, who chairs the bar’s Communications Committee’s Innovations Subcommittee.
Foley’s Global Risk Solutions is the first-of-its-kind program, providing businesses with a fully integrated Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) compliance solution. The service is delivered through a web-based platform and combines traditional legal advice with cutting-edge technology to address the hallmarks of an effective anti-corruption compliance program identified by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Created by Partner David Simon and Senior Counsel John Turlais, the unique offering was designed with the idea that many companies, especially middle-market manufacturers with international operations, see the risks that the FCPA poses to their business, but do not have the resources or the desire to build an FCPA compliance function in-house. Foley GRS is designed to fill that gap and solve this very real business problem.
GRS was recognized earlier this year by BizTimes Milwaukee, which awarded the program its Innovation Quotient Award.
