Senior Counsel

Overview

Scott T. Allen is a senior counsel and litigation lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice. He has represented clients in a wide variety of litigation matters, including employment discrimination, non-compete, traditional labor, and wage and hour cases before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. Mr. Allen also counsels employers on a range of employment-related matters, such as disability accommodation, employee leave, and wage and hour compliance. In addition, Mr. Allen has extensive experience in defending and advising employers throughout the country on safety and health-related matters under the Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA).

Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Allen served as a legislative aide and press assistant in the United States Senate. During law school, he was a summer associate with Foley.

Education

Mr. Allen earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., dean’s list, 2014), where he served as a senior editor of The Tax Lawyer. Mr. Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A., 2008).

Publications

Mr. Allen has published numerous articles on labor and employment topics, including an analysis for Law360, “What CDC’s New Mask Guidance Means For Employers,” in May 2021.

Mr. Allen is also the author of the article, “Adapting to the Internet: Why Legislation is Needed to Address the Preference for Online Sales that Deprives States of Tax Revenue,” which was published in The Tax Lawyer (Summer 2013).

Mr. Allen is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and other federal district and appeals courts.
