Nikolay Balayan is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and practices out of the firm’s New York office.  Nikolay is a member of Foley’s Fund Formation & Investment Management Practice.

Nikolay advises private investment sponsors on all aspects of fund formation, including capital raising, marketing, preparing offering documents, drafting organizational documents and counseling clients on regulatory, compliance and operational issues both during an active fund raise and during the operational stage, including with respect to sponsor carried interest and management company arrangements. Nikolay’s sponsor clients include established and emerging hedge fund, private equity, venture capital, growth equity, real estate, and fund-of-funds sponsors.

Nikolay has particular expertise in the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the SEC rules and regulations promulgated thereunder.  Prior to joining Foley, Nikolay was a Managing Director at IQ-EQ where he provided a full range of regulatory compliance services to investment advisers.
