Foley invites you to participate in our Eye on China Roundtable Series program, Patent Enforcement in China: Sharing the Real Story. We are looking for companies and firms with first-hand experience acquiring and enforcing utility models and design patents as well as familiarity with enforcing invention patents to share with us the specific challenges you face using the administrative and civil judicial enforcement system in China.

The discussion will be moderated by knowledgeable IP attorneys from various private and public sectors, including the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Several topics will be addressed, including:

  • Acquiring utility model/design patents
  • Judicial impartiality and transparency
  • Evidence collection and preservation
  • Damages and injunctions
  • Enforceability of court orders
  • Administrative patent enforcement

Moderators:

  • Hon. Sharon R. Barner, Foley Intellectual Property Partner, former Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the USPTO (2009 – 2011)
  • Teresa Stanek Rea, current Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the USPTO
  • David Shen, Asia Regional IP Counsel, Eli Lilly China

We are particularly interested in any input you can provide us to help assess the magnitude of the challenges, as well as concrete recommendations for improvement.

This program is complimentary, but pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Delia Dai at ddai@foley.com or (001) 312.832.4506.
