Energy Client Wins $95.5 Million and Eagle Ford Shale Expanse

Law360 featured Gardere Partners Craig B. Florence and Randy D. Gordon in an article describing Longview Energy Company's recent victory in a Zavala County court. Longview was represented by Mr. Florence and Mr. Gordon, along with Associate Rachel Kingrey and attorneys from Watts Guerra Craft LLP. The Texas state judge presiding over the case awarded $95.5 million and approximately 46,000 leasehold acres in the Eagle Ford Shale to Longview. The court found in favor of Longview based on breach of fiduciary duty and aiding and abetting claims.

"If you serve on a board, you're not allowed to compromise your loyalties," says Mr. Florence. "You have to serve that board. If you act as an investor, you have to put the company first and put your personal interest second."
