Partner Larry Waks was quoted in The American Lawyer article, “Meet the Lawyer Who Helped Make Drive-In Theaters Cool Again,” about his work on behalf of Foley client Encore Live and its “Drive-In Nights” theater concert series. Encore Live is a full-service event production company based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that plans, organizes and executes events all over the country.
Waks spoke with the publication about how he was able to help facilitate the streaming and prerecorded concerts and content that is now leading a resurgence for the approximately 400 drive-in theaters left in the United States.
“They [Encore Live] came up with this idea … as there are no concerts or private gatherings, but maybe we can get them [people] to go to drive-in theaters in their cars,” Waks said. “The first concert they produced was Garth Brooks. It was opportunistic in a positive way. For musicians, there is no touring these days. So, we thought, let’s get them into a studio, Nashville or L.A., which has gotten more difficult.”
The Foley team was led by Waks and Partner Glenn Singleton and included Partners Mike Dubner, Mike Donohue, James Howard and Lynn Gandhi, as well as Associates Matt Kiel, Bryce Morgan and Randy Pummill.
