Foley & Lardner Ranks Third Among Firms Advising Activists Targeting Companies

Foley & Lardner ranked third in terms of the number of campaigns advised (8) in Dealmaker Quarterly’s list of law firms advising activists targeting companies between January and April of this year.
Foley also ranked third among firms advising activists in last year’s rankings, with 16 campaigns advised for the entire year.
The campaigns included only involve publicly-disclosed efforts. Law firms often advise companies and activists in private insurgencies that are never disclosed, Dealmaker notes.
The top advisers to activists targeting companies included:
- Partners Phillip Goldberg and Peter Fetzer, who advised activist PL Capital on its settlement with Banc of California for a board seat
- Partners Goldberg, Fetzer and Dean Jeske, who advised Rockwell Medical in its proxy campaign against an activist investor
- Partners Goldberg and Fetzer, who advised Roaring Blue Lion Capital in its campaign to secure board seats at HomeStreet, Inc.
