Overview
Joseph S. (Joe) Rupkey is a partner and real estate business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Rupkey has extensive experience representing clients in a wide variety of real estate matters, including the sale, purchase, exchange, development, leasing and financing of commercial and residential real property. He also has significant experience representing corporate clients in connection with the real estate aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Rupkey is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice and Sports Industry Team.
In addition to his experience with the firm, Mr. Rupkey also has previous in-house experience as legal counsel for Kohl’s Department Stores, Inc., which gives him a unique perspective in representing clients in connection with retail properties. In his position at Kohl's, Mr. Rupkey drafted and negotiated a wide variety of retail lease, purchase and sale, site development and operational agreements for properties nationwide.

Mr. Rupkey was recently recognized by The Legal 500 United States (2013, 2014 and 2015) for his work in the area of real estate.
Education
Mr. Rupkey earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center in 1999. His Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing was conferred, summa cum laude, by the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1994.
