John M. Lazarus is a partner and registered patent attorney with Foley & Lardner LLP where he excels at helping companies identify and protect their intellectual property assets, build patent portfolios, and navigate around the patent landscape of their competitors. John provides counseling relating to patent preparation, prosecution and enforcement, product design, and patent infringement matters and prepares intellectual property agreements, patent opinions, and due diligence opinions. He also counsels a wide variety of companies regarding patent prosecution strategies and patent portfolio coordination. He is a member of the firm’s Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies and Green Energy Technologies Practices. He is also a member of the Energy and Food & Beverage Industry Teams.

Education
John earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law (J.D. 2000). He earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Engineering (M.S.M.E., 1993), and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology (B.S.M.E 1984).
