Machine Learning. Deep Learning. Data Mining. Predictive Analytics. Natural Language Processing.

These are the buzzwords used to describe the pivotal artificial intelligence (AI) space. Companies in every industry, from automotive and electronics to health care and life sciences, are working to deploy these advanced technology methods in order to bring their innovations to the next level.

The integration and deployment of AI is transforming the traditional “Tech Space” at lighting speed, for example, harnessing its power for applications such as autonomous vehicles. At the same time, perhaps the most profound effect of the adaptation of this technology will be in the health care, life sciences, and medical diagnostics space. As AI “brains” continue to assimilate to medicine, the potential for diagnostic solutions is innumerable.

As with any disruptive technology, however, this AI race to the moon comes with its share of risks and challenges. Are you prepared to address the various issues that this new technology may bring?

Please join Foley & Lardner LLP for our upcoming program, which will further explore the business and intellectual property landscape of AI, including:

  • What is AI, machine learning, and deep learning?
  • What is patentable — for example, data processing, learning and training, and other apparatus such as autonomous vehicles, smart home Internet of Things devices, security and fraud prevention, and virtual personal assistants
  • AI patent disclosure requirements, including challenges and strategies such as improved nature of algorithms and improvements relating to specific application spaces
  • AI's impact and potential applications within the electronics, health care, and life sciences industries
  • Common and unique patenting considerations when life sciences and high-tech companies employ AI
  • How to structure licensing, agreement, and collaboration deals involving AI, as well as how to address ownership issues and other matters that may arise in such transactions

There is no fee to attend this program, but advance registration is required. To register, please click here or use the register button and be sure to select your preferred program date and location, either March 14 in Osaka or March 15 in Tokyo.

Shinya Higuchi will be a guest speaker as part of the Osaka program. Mr. Higuchi is the Manager, AI Solutions Development Group, Evolutional IT Center, Research and Development Headquarters, Technology and Innovation General Headquarters NTT DATA Corporation.
