Timothy V. Hansen

Associate

Tim Hansen helps clients navigate complex, high-stakes disputes from first filing through appeal in both federal and state courts.  Tim has defended against lawsuits including multibillion‑dollar defamation claims and class action claims arising out of an alleged data breach.  Known for his meticulous brief writing and strategic thinking, Tim regularly drafts persuasive dispositive motions, appellate briefs, and other key filings.  He also argues motions in court and manages cases through all stages of discovery.

Before joining Foley, Tim practiced at a leading global law firm in its Salt Lake City office.  He began his legal career with two federal clerkships: first for Judge Drew B. Tipton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and then for Judge Ryan D. Nelson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
