Foley & Lardner LLP partners Ruben Diaz and Federico Goudie are quoted in the LatinFinance article, “Lawyers forecast fall in LatAm M&A,” offering their assessment of the Latin American merger and acquisition market through the end of 2023.
Diaz noted political difficulties in several Central American countries has led to “a slowdown” in outbound M&A there. “The political situation in Mexico is not easy either,” he added. Diaz explained that Latin American corporations have however made more acquisitions in the U.S. market.
Goudie commented that Latin American businesses have an “interest in diversifying” by buying in to the U.S. market, “although it has been expensive due to the exchange rate.”
