Foley’s Tampa office has been selected to receive the 2019 Florida Chief Justice’s Law Firm Commendation Pro Bono Service Award.
The award recognizes a firm that has made a significant contribution in the provision of pro bono legal services to individuals or groups that cannot otherwise afford those services. Consideration is not limited to the immediate past year. A firm’s overall or cumulative pro bono service record and public service activities are also taken into account.
The award will be presented during a February 7, 2019, ceremony at the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee, Fla.
Foley’s Tampa office was nominated by the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Bay Area Legal Services which praised the firm for its help with VLP’s Case Referral Panel, Intake Clinic and Mentor Panel as well as the Community Counsel Program, which provides pro bono transactional legal assistance to nonprofit organizations that serve the poor. From 2011-2017, Foley attorneys donated more than 1,900 hours to the Volunteer Lawyers Program and worked on at least 140 cases.
