Foley Sports Industry Team Co-Chair and Partner Kevin Schulz was quoted in a Law360 article, “U.S. World Cup Selection a Boon for Soccer Deal Attorneys,” about FIFA’s decision to award the 2026 World Cup to a joint bid from the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“The excitement around the 2026 World Cup, both in the lead-up and in the aftermath, should lead to a greater interest in the professional soccer leagues in the U.S. — from MLS on down — which should translate to increased revenues and enhanced team valuations. It will then be incumbent on the U.S. soccer leagues to build off of that success to ensure that the increases are sustainable, and not just a temporary spike around the time of the 2026 World Cup,” Schulz said.
