Chicago Partner Zaldwaynaka ‘Z’ Scott has been named president of Chicago State University.
Scott, who served on the school’s board of trustees from 2009 to 2013, was selected from three finalists Tuesday to be the university’s first permanent leader in nearly two years.
She told the Chicago Tribune she had accepted the job, effective July 1, and had given notice of her intent to leave Foley.
“I am humbled and thrilled to have been selected by the board to lead the university,” she said. “I think this is an amazing opportunity.”
In addition to being an accomplished trial lawyer, Scott is a former federal prosecutor and state executive inspector general. She also has held multiple board positions in city and state government and has taught classes as an adjunct instructor at Northwestern University School of Law, the University of Chicago Law School and the John Marshall School of Law.
