Swift Quoted on U.S. Counterterrorism Efforts in Yemen

Senior Counsel Christopher Swift was quoted in a Bloomberg article, “Yemen Government’s Fall is Blow to Obama’s War on Terror,” on March 25, 2015. The article discussed the current state of the conflict in Yemen and its relation to the Obama administration’s efforts to thwart al-Qaeda affiliates.

Swift was quoted saying, “The unfortunate reality is that what’s happening in Yemen is not a proxy war, it is a civil war driven by local dynamics. One of the things that the U.S. desperately needs to do in the coming weeks is understand those local dynamics, rather than blindly adopting the viewpoint of our allies who may have other interests at stake.”
