Intellectual Property Watch
Partner Andrew Baum was quoted in an Intellectual Property Watch article published on May 20, 2014, titled “U.S. Supreme Court Gives Green Light to Raging Bull Case.” The article discussed the recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in Petrella v. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer that laches can no longer be used to defend against copyright infringement suits, which means a copyright owner can wait a significant period of time before bringing suit. Given the impact of this decision on music, movie and television companies, Baum said, “This is a bad day for Hollywood and the music industry.”
