Partner Michael Abbott Comments on Company Notice Requirements Under the Affordable Care Act

The Houston Chronicle covered the new company health insurance exchange options under the new Affordable Care Act. Tax Partner Michael A. Abbott, who practices in the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice area, discussed the importance of companies notifying their employees by Oct. 1, giving them the option to purchase health insurance through the new health care marketplace.
"Even though companies have until 2015 to provide health care or pay penalties, they still have to provide the notices to employees," Mr. Abbott said, adding that many of his clients are surprised to hear about the notification requirement.
