Foley Partner Van Tengberg was quoted in an article that appeared in the October 2011 issue of Golf Business titled “Recasting the Private Club.” Tengberg discusses the struggle of private golf clubs to survive in a down economy as well as new strategies that many club operators are experimenting with to generate activity and interest in new memberships. He cites multi-generational memberships and reciprocal access privileges among cooperating clubs as necessary changes, but notes that the extent of these changes remains debatable.
