Stephen M. Slavin is a retired partner in Foley & Lardner LLP’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Business Law Department. His practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, public and private capital formation transactions, and corporate governance matters.

A resident of Lake Forest, Illinois, Stephen served as an elected trustee of Deerfield, Illinois, from 1969 to 1973 and was a candidate for the Illinois State Senate in 1972. He was a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and a past president of the Chicago chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth. He also served as a director of several corporations and previously served as chairman of the boards of directors of Digital Biometrics, Inc., an NMS‑traded company, and Chicago Youth Centers, Inc., a charitable organization serving inner‑city children and teens.

Stephen received his law degree in 1964 from the University of Chicago Law School and his undergraduate degree in 1961 from Colgate University.

He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1964 and to the New York Bar in 1983, and he was a member of the American Bar Association.
